Where is carmen sandiago?

Well, honestly I do not know...

I wanted to discuss my current thoughts and feelings on the current turn of the gaming market specifically computer based games.  I feel that we are dropping the most innovative, educational and groundbreaking gaming for gritty, grimy and disturbing games.  At one point in the past the most engaging of games where little more than text and simple images (if that) yet, they had imagination, flair and education.  While growing up in this new digital age tought me alot about computers it also was informative about the world and full of how to knowledge.

Games such as the subtitle here identify those days of a bygone generation.  I think that by identifying the loss of this genre of games perhaps, will inspire our new generation of gamers to become more engaging, educational and informative.  Or perhaps, I will be seen just as another old man.

In either sense, I suppose I do occassionally enjoy a game with no true plot, educational or historical relevance however, I would enjoy the game so much better if there were but an inkling of the story, plot or information passed by the classics of the pc.

Consoles, are even worse to this degree as they are limited pc's that game manufacturers and developers are using to subjugate our children into mindless point and click activities with nothing gained and little learned.  With games that give points for stealing, killing and maiming others it is no wonder that our society is failing to understand what was once common knowledge to us all by our third year in elementary (presidents on mount rushmoore).

I believe we can recover, by engaging our children through their medium.  Create games, activities and solutions for the popular technical devices that is both innovative, fun and engaging with exceptional storyline.  Well, maybe that is too much to ask.

In any event those are my thoughts....why not share yours in a comment.

Thank You,

I do agree that those games like "Where in the world is Camen Sandiago" are a thing of the past. I don't think were really going to see a return of those kinds of games either. Everyone it seems wants faster, bloodier, games and I don't think thats going to change anytime soon. The reason why those older games no longer exist is that they can't compete with whats out there today, just like today's games can't compete against whats going to come out in 5 years.
